It has been 2 years since I penned liner notes for an album. Recently I changed my musical style from algorithmic and experimental to a simpler music with beats, harmonies and melodies. On September 8th, 2020, I released "City of Lights", the first in a series of 10 short albums that contained 1 minute-long tracks, the length of a commercial. The last time I wrote exclusively in that format was in 1992 when I had a short-lived commercial production studio in San Francisco working for Levi-Strauss, and then later for Sears and New York Film & Animation. All of this is documented on my retrospective album "One Minute Wonders" (1985-2015). I picked up writing in this short format once again in 2020 until my albums "Outtakes" (2022) and "Slideshow of Life" (2022), began to crack this format with most titles around 2 minutes in length. "Horizontal" is the first new album of 2022 where all tracks are actually between 3 and 4 minutes in length, the format of a pop song. I have finally arrived at something that most people enjoy as a piece of music with a beginning, middle, end and lots of bass. To add to the enjoyment I have also continued to slow down the tempi to a chill-out pace.
